Homer Hanky

Welcome to the Metrodome!
Home of the Minnesota Twins!
(at least for now...)(And yes, that is a Canadian flag up there! Minnesota loves their neighbors!)

You see...they are currently building a new outdoor stadium (Target Field) in downtown Minneapolis which will be open for the 2010 season. Today the Twins played their last regular season home game scheduled inside the Metrodome. They beat the Kansas City Royals 13-4 to push them into a tie-breaker to be played this Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers. They are both fighting for first place in the American League Central and guess who will have home field advantage on Tuesday?! The Twins, of course!

I can't wait to see all the Twins fans fill the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome to the brim on Tuesday, just as they did for the 1987 and 1991 world series championship games. The homer hankys will be waving like crazy!

You may wonder why I care so much about this? Here's proof...We have this Wheaties box!

I grew up loving the Twins. Everyone in my family is a fan.

My grandparents were the biggest fans! My grandpa never missed a game. Even if they weren't televised, he would sit out on the back porch with his radio and listen to every inning, down to the last pitch. I also remember when I was about 6 years old my grandma helped me write a letter to my favorite player. I was so excited when I received a letter back two weeks later in the mail with an autographed baseball card. My favorite player was this guy....Kirby Puckett #34. This is probably the most popular picture of Kirby. It was taken right after the 1991 World Series Game 6 winning homerun.

(Oh...and here's a little trivia for you...my family used to have a dog named Kirby! True fans, or what?)
This is me at my first Twins game. As you can see, I was having a lot of fun! And little did I know at the time, this wouldn't be my last game.
Here are a few pictures from our most recent trip. It was D's first time in the stadium
and yes I let him wear his Houston Astros gear!
(only because the Twins were playing the Texas Rangers! haha!) Right outside the Dome is a neat little souvenir shop. It has everything you could ever imagine! We never take a trip without going inside. As you can see, my younger brother and I love our Minnesota teams!
In case you were wondering...this is what a Homer Hanky looks like!
So come Tuesday night, I may not be in downtown Minneapolis, but you will find me in front of the tv cheering for my favorite baseball team!
And if my favorite team doesn't win...
I'll still be the biggest fan!
