Flashback Friday

Fall 2002- My first semester at A&M. Family came up for their first football game. I forced my brother to wear that shirt!
February 2007- My last semeseter at A&M. You see...at the time, my brother would rather be wearing this shirt. The house was divided!
Fast forward two and half years...My brother has ditched the burnt orange and is now one of the newest members of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2013. Austin, I'm so proud of you and super excited to see where the next four years take you! These are the best years of your life...Enjoy it!
And...Welcome to AGGIELAND! :)

Time Travel Machine

"Time travel is the concept of moving between different moments in time in a manner analogous to moving between different points in space, either sending objects backwards in time to a moment before the present, or sending objects forward from the present to the future without the need to experience the intervening period."

Here's my happy place! Looks like a postcard huh?

Carry You Home

One day Jesus - he's gonna come back
And say enough of this
You're getting' way off track
All this stealin', cheatin', lyin', all the little babies cryin'
Well I'll tell ya I can't take anymore
*
Cause I died for your sins so long ago
It seems you forget with every day that rolls
I'm gonna stop it all right now
Before it gets way out of control
*
Everybody's gonna stand in line
When it comes to judgement time
Pick the side of the fence that you're on
When he comes to carry you home
*
Now if you wanna kill and die for your God
That's your prerogative, but I'll tell you that you're wrong
I think God - He's an understanding man
But I don't think that's part of his plan
Cause he wants us all to live in harmony
Take care of one another when we need
So if you want to rant and rave, murder and corrupt
Stay away from the ones that I love
*
Everybody's gonna stand in line
When it comes to judgement time
Pick the side of the fence that you're on
When he comes to carry you home
*
I'm not pointin' fingers, don't get me wrong
Cause I drink and smoke and cuss
And carry on
This is my opinion and it's all that it is
To let you know that my devotion is His
I'll admit that I'm not a Saint
I know what I can - I know what I can't do
I can't judge your right from your wrong
You are you and I am my own
*
I don't read the Bible everyday
I can't understand most of it anyway
But I know where I'll go when my number is shown
*
Everybody's gonna stand in line
When it comes to judgement time
Pick the side of the fence that you're on
When he comes to carry you home

Wordless Wednesday (with words!)

Some of you may have seen this famous picture of "Nuts" the Squirrel...
Here is our very own squirrel friend, we'll call him "Mr. Nutty". Surprisingly, he let me get very close to take this picture a couple of weekends ago.

Plant Doctor!

Help! My bougainvilleas are sick! I've tried everything from watering less, watering more, shade, sun, insecticide, fertilizer...you name it, I've tried it!

Can someone please tell me how it is possible to go from something so beautiful:
...to this:

in only a matter of two weeks? All the flowers have fallen off and now the leaves are starting to go.

I read up on these beautiful plants before I bought some for our backyard, so I thought I had them all figured out! Boy was I wrong! But one thing is for sure...I'm on a mission. A mission to bring these babies back to life! :)

To be continued...

When it Rains, it Pours

And if you are lucky...you'll spot a rainbow!

"Life is like a rainbow. You need both the sun and the rain to make it's colors appear."

(Excuse the poor picture quality...the BlackBerry was all I had in my office!)

Country Charm

"We relax at the ranch, which if not heaven itself, probably has the same zip code."
-Ronald Reagan

Nothing beats a relaxing weekend away from the big city hustle & bustle! Here are a few more pictures from this past weekend...
Our home-away-from-home for two days! The rocking chairs alone were worth the drive! We definitely need some for our backyard! Friday night we had an amazing dinner at Huisache Grill. Everything from the appetizer down to the last drop of wine was wonderful! We had a few visitors when we returned from dinner.
Saturday afternoon we roamed around downtown New Braunfels and visited a lot of cute shops. Including a few antique shops!
All and all, the weekend was great!

Gruene, TX

Just outside the city of New Braunfels, Texas thrives a town called "Gruene." One would be hard pressed to miss this town. Although you must travel down a long 2 lane road, follow a few signs and make a couple of turns as dust swirls in your rear view mirror; nestled by the Guadalupe River, you will find Gruene, Texas along with a sign that simply states, "Gently resisting change since 1872."
The famous Gruene Hall & local water tower
The wonderful Gristmill River Restaurant & Bar

Wordless Wednesday

Who finds a friend, finds treasure

She said YES!! My very best friend, M, recently got engaged to the sweetest guy, DT! I couldn't be more excited for them!
Yesterday I got a cute, little surprise in the mail...
I was literally jumping up and down when I finally got all the pieces of the puzzle together! Ask D, he was laughing at me! M...I'm honored to be a part of your very special day! I can't wait to see what the future holds for you and DT. You guys deserve the very best!

M gave me this sweet poem in a card on the day we graduated college. She probably doesn't know I still have it...but I love it and will cherish it forever!

My dear, sweet,
one-of-a-kind friend,
do you know how much
you sustain me in this crazy world?
Do you have any idea
how comforting the sound of your voice is?
How wonderful it is to know
there is someone in this world
I can always count on to understand?
I know I don't put this into words
nearly often enough-
that's why I'm doing it now...
so you'll know that there is one heart
who always holds you dear,
who appreciates your wisdom,
wit, and compassion,
who always hopes for your happiness.
I don't know what I'd do
without these gifts of yours,
my dear, sweet,
one-of-a-kind,
once-in-a-lifetime friend.

August Already?

Why does it feel like life is flying by me? And how can I make it stop? I can't believe it's already August 1st!
I can't believe college football is about to start.
I can't believe my younger brother will be starting college at the end of this month.
I can't believe it's been over 2 years since I graduated college.
I can't believe my parents just celebrated their 30th anniversary.
I can't believe it's almost hunting season.
I can't believe little Peyton is almost a year old.
I can't believe life moves this fast.
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
—Ferris Bueller
