Pumpkin Frenzy!

It's that time of year again! This may surprise some of you but I've never carved a pumpkin before!...that is, until this past weekend! You see, I got this brilliant idea from Better Homes & Gardens Magazine and I was bound to make it happen!
First I recruited some help...
D thought I was crazy and that I picked two of the hardest designs for a "first-timer." He wanted me to stick with an "easy" pattern, like a "Saw 'Em Off" Aggie theme, but I was determined to prove him wrong!
(Plus, this was before our aggies beat tech! Whoop!)
Here I am with the work-in-progress...
And here are the finished products!

Black Lab & Australian Shepherd

Sadie wasn't quite sure what to think of hers...she had to slowly check it out.
Gauge, on the other hand, loved his right away!
Sadie: "Come on mom, no more pictures please!"
Gauge: "Yes! Something to put in my mouth!"

A shot in the dark!

A week or so ago I took a night photography class offered by Kathy Adams Clark. It was a lot of fun and I definitely learned a few new tricks!
Here are some of my favorite shots from the night...Enjoy!

As long as the person holding the light keeps moving...
they won't show up in the picture.

So...what do ya think?
Hopefully after all this practice, I will be able to come up with a picture similar to this on our New York trip!

Midwest Charm

Today I got a phone call from my mom telling me that my great-uncle had a heart attack yesterday and then another one today. He is currently in the hospital and doctors are having a hard time getting his heart rhythm back under control. Please pray for him.

He lives in a small, small town and when I asked my mom why he wasn't in the bigger city hospital she said because he doesn't want to go. Please pray for his courage, the doctor's wisdom and for my family's peace during this time. Thankfully, my parents are on vacation right now visiting my family up north, so they were able to go see him today.

Here are a few pictures from our last visit to uncle Barney's farm...

He always has a smile on his face and always has a fun story to tell.
He is the true definition of midwestern charm!
Oh..and did I mention that he is 89 years old?
We always have fun at the farm!
Here I am learning how to target shoot!
It was easier sitting down!
Pretty good shot huh?
