Twelve years ago today Texas A&M University was forever changed. November 18, 1999 Bonfire collapsed, killing 12 Aggies and injuring 27. "Bonfire didn't build the spirit of Texas A&M, the spirit of Texas A&M built the bonfire. The spirit isn't dead. It's here tonight and will continue forever."
Bonfire Remembrance Day is observed each year on November 18 in recognition of the tragedy that brought A&M's 90-year-old tradition to a halt. Bonfire, built each November before the A&M vs. University of Texas football game, symbolized the Aggie's burning desire to beat UT.
Please keep the Aggie family in your thoughts and prayers today...
